The
"Una Esperanza" (One Hope)
program was initiated in 1995 with the sole
purpose of educating the younger generation
in order to restore the moral and ethical values
which they are so critically lacking. We believe
this decline has reached an alarming low point
in our country, which should concern us all.
Through a concentration
on monthly values, we strive to develop in
our students a sense of well-rounded integrity.
By helping them recognize their value in society,
we encourage them to live a life fully convicted
of what is correct and help them recognize
what they need to do to make their world a
better place.
“Una
Esperanza” continues to guide our
students through the study and reflection
of topics such as values (humility, compassion,
etc.) or issues (plagiarism, non-violence,
etc.). The school strives to include the “Una
Esperanza” in all subjects, at
all levels. More than a program, it is the
underlying backbone for everything that is
taught here at St. Michael’s School.
This voluntary group prepares a monthly publication
with articles and questionnaires that focus
on the topic of the month which are distributed
to the entire school community.
